When visiting the temples, waterfalls, and navigating the different seasons at Angkor Park in Cambodia:

Dress Code for Temples:

  • Cover your shoulders – No sleeveless tops, tank tops or spaghetti straps. Wear shirts that cover your shoulders.
  • Cover your legs – Shorts, skirts and dresses should be knee-length or longer. Avoid anything too short or revealing.
  • Avoid see-through or tight-fitting clothes – Opt for loose, flowing, and opaque fabrics.
  • Remove hats and sunglasses when entering temples – This is a sign of respect.
  • Remove shoes when entering certain temple areas – This is required at some of the most sacred sites.

What to Bring for Waterfalls:

  • Swimsuit and quick-drying clothes – You’ll likely get wet at the waterfalls.
  • Water shoes or sandals – The rocks can be slippery, so proper footwear is important.
  • Towel – To dry off after swimming.
  • Waterproof bag – To keep your valuables dry.
  • Change of clothes – In case your clothes don’t dry completely.

Visiting in Dry Season vs Monsoon:
Dry Season (November to May):

  • Very hot and dry weather, with temperatures reaching up to 40°C (104°F).
  • Bring plenty of water, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), and lightweight, breathable clothing.
  • The waterfalls may have less water flow during this time.

Monsoon Season (June to October):

  • Expect heavy rainfall, high humidity, and cooler temperatures (around 30°C/86°F).
  • Bring rain gear like a lightweight rain jacket or poncho.
  • The waterfalls will have much higher water levels and flow during this season.
  • The temples may be more slippery and muddy, so proper footwear is essential.

No matter when you visit, be prepared for lots of walking on uneven terrain. Comfortable, broken-in shoes are a must. And don’t forget to bring insect repellent, a portable phone charger, and small bills/change for entrance fees and purchases.
